Written Assignment: Based on the DVD describe different types of body language and their meaning, discuss verbal messages vs body language, personal space and cultural differences.

International Trade

1st and 3rd Block -- Review for chapter 3 test on Thursday. Went over part of chapter 4.1. Assignment#1: List advantages and disadvantages of International Trade. Assignment #2: Chapter 3 Vocabulary Review and Fact & Idea Review. Checked page 20 in class.

Economic Indicator/Business Cycle

1st & 3rd Block -- Pink time sheet due today. Went over Chapter 3.2 PowerPoint. Assignment #1 : Define 5 selected economic indicators. Assignment #2: Create bubble graphic for each phase of the business cycle. Include at least 4 descriptor bubbles for each graphic. Assignment #3: Why is it important to be able to measure and chart the economy a different times?

Test Chapter 2

1st & 3rd Block -- Went over AdAge.com article dealing with FTC vs. free speech in advertising. Test on chapter 2. Gave out and went over Student Internet E-Mail Account application and WebTop application. Went over Opportunity Cost PowerPoint. Due today: Work journal for week of Sept 10 to Sept 16. Gave out copy of constitution and spent 5 minutes reading.

Constitution Day

1st Block -- Went to computer lab. Checked Edline. Completed Internet Activity on types of economies, political philosophies and simple products that made people money.

3rd Block -- Participated in the New River Community College Constitution Day program.

Product Positioning

1st Block & 3rd Block -- Looked at Global Burger King marketing. Reviewed difference in economic system and political system. Read textbook page 645-646 on Product Positioning. Completed graphic organizer on positioning. Worked in groups to complete the Korea activity from workbook page 21 & 22. Computer lab tomorrow.

Chapter 1.2 & 1.3 Test

1st & 3rd Block -- Test on chapters 1.2 and 1.3. Finished going over chapter 3.1 PowerPoint. Took notes on Political Philosophies and answered the questions "Why is the United States considered to have a 'mixed' economy?" Gave out time/hours sheets for this week.

Test Review & Begin Economy

1st Block & 3rd Block -- Review for test tomorrow on chapters 1.2 & 1.3. Looked at an article on AdAge.com about Wal-Mart's merchandising strategy. Completed a Rounding Review on Marketing Share. Discussed where and when you will actually used the "marketing information" we have been learning in Chapter 1 and 2. Began going over Chapter 3.1 from PowerPoint. Read for 10 minutes silently.
1st block stopped at political systems. 3rd block stopped at 3 questions every economy must answer.

Friday Sept 10

1st & 3rd Block -- Marketing Work Journal due today. PowerPoint review for test on Tuesday, Sept 14 on Chapters 1.2 & 1.3. Went over chapter 2.2 PowerPoint and added to Marketing Segmentation Graphic. Went over Objective B "How You Slice It" worksheet. Everyone read silently for 5 to 10 minutes.

1st Block & 3rd Block -- Due today -- blue time sheet. Gave back papers. Gave out new green time sheet for this week --this sheet will be due Monday, Sept 13. Gave out Computer lab assignment sheet and Edline activation code sheets.

Friday, September 3

1st & 3rd Block -- Looked at 2 articles on AdAge.com. Went over Market Share and completed math workbook pages 71 & 72. Must have Internet permission form on Tuesday or you will have a written assignment instead of an Internet assignment.

1st Block Only -- Gave back test from Thursday. Went over chapter review questions for 1.3 and chapter review.

Test on Marketing Functions

1st Block & 3rd Block -- Took test on Chapter 1.1. Looked at 2 articles on AdAge.com but did not add any new vocabulary words. Went over chapter 1.3 from PowerPoint. Completed and turned in Worksheet for chapter 1.3. We will be in the computer lab on Tuesday to activate Edline accounts and complete a computer assignment. Students who do NOT had the Internet Permission form at THIS school, will NOT be allowed to use the computer -- you will be given an alternate written assignment.

Farmer's Market

1st & 3rd Block -- Went to the Farmer's Market. Completed a scavenger hunt for the 7 functions of marketing at the market. Completed and checked in class a review sheet for the marketing functions and utilities. Went over the Chapter 1.1 review. Test Tomorrow on Chapter 1.1. Went over 2 articles from AdAge.com and added 2 vocabulary words to the list 1) competition/competitor 2) demographics. Gave out hours/time sheet for this week -- it will be due Tuesday, Sept 7.

1st Block watched several promotions on the creativity web site.

3rd Block started working on the chapter 1.3 worksheet -- stopped after the 3rd item on the sheet. Creativity website would not work 3rd block.
